Materials

Woven goods are made by shedding threads from two thread systems, warp and weft, which cross at right angles. They have a lower elasticity. They are divided into three different types of weave: plain weave, twill weave and old weave. Examples: bunting made of 100% cotton, viscose voile, linen.

Knitted fabrics are made from one or more thread systems by forming stitches. Compared to woven fabrics, they are more stretchy and less prone to creasing. Examples: cotton jersey, Ponte di Roma, ribbed cuffs.

From Fabric to Customer

The story behind the fabric

Product development & design - This is where the fabric idea is born. The colleagues in the design department are always one step ahead of the times. They regularly visit the most important fashion and fabric fairs. Here they find out what future trends there are in design and fabric qualities.

This is where fabric design is created!

Anyone who works in product design has a feel for colors, patterns, designs and trends. A look into the office lets you immerse yourself in a world full of fabrics, colors and patterns. The designs are created directly on the PC with modern drawing pads. New fabric designs are created with great attention to detail. The professionals in the design department determine the fabric qualities and the repeat.

Marketing - The marketing department is already active before the design is printed on fabric and delivered. It is in regular contact with the design department. Together they plan when which fabrics will go on sale and coordinate closely with the management and sales department. Once the schedule is set, the marketing employees get started. They design and write sales documents, newsletters, social media posts and much more.

The trade fairs at which Hemmers Itex is represented are also largely planned in the marketing department. In particular, the in-house exhibition, to which Hemmers Itex invites twice a year, is prepared here. Every year, the creative trainees come up with great workshops for the many trade fair visitors.

Quality management - The design and fabric quality are determined. Now the sampling staff contact the appropriate suppliers or fabric producers. This is where our textile experts work. They have a direct line to the reliable and professional fabric suppliers who are carefully selected beforehand.

From sampling to approval

So that Hemmers Itex can guarantee the same quality standards and tests, external tests are also carried out at the suppliers on site. Only the producers who meet Hemmers Itex's high quality requirements are considered for cooperation. Since fabrics are often produced abroad, the employees are fairly fluent in English. Before the entire quantity of fabric is printed and produced, the producers send a production sample to Nordhorn. When selecting suppliers, Hemmers Itex attaches great importance to compliance with quality standards. China and Turkey are among the largest suppliers of fabrics on the world market.
